This Mission is making all out efforts to increase Bangladesh’s export to Turkey as well as overall economic, political and cultural cooperation between the two countries. Bangladesh export to Turkey has been increasing quite satisfactorily since 2007-08. We made remarkable progress in our export to Turkey since 2008. There is huge scope of increasing trade volume between the two countries as well as investment opportunities to the mutual benefit.
According to TÜRK-STAT (Turkish Statistical Institute), Bangladesh’s total export to Turkey during July 2011—June 2012 was US$ 794.05 million and according to EPB, however, Bangladesh’s total export to Turkey during this period was US$ 555.38 million. Turkish export to Bangladesh in FY 2010—2011 was US$ 110.95 million and the figure stood at US$ 142.33 million in FY 2011—2012.
In recent years, there has been remarkable increase of movement of business community from Turkey to Bangladesh. This Embassy is issuing business visas to the Turkish business groups from various sectors with prompt service. There is huge scope for Turkish businessmen to import from as well as to invest in Bangladesh in sectors such as ready made garments & knitwear, leather, textile, pharmaceutical products, light engineering, manufacturing, jute & jute products (carpet), energy, education, health, transport, telecommunication and roads & highway in Bangladesh.
This Mission took necessary steps to hold the 4th session of the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting in November, 2012 in Dhaka after the 3rd session was held in Ankara in 2009. The regular holding of the JEC is important to sustain the trade and economic interests of both Bangladesh and Turkey for mutual benefit.
